I was assigned to extract data out of the song ‘The Perfect Drug’ by Nine Inch Nails and visualize it.
The idea was to use pills as a metaphor and also to differentiate between lyrical content, instrumental, amount of people singing and the dynamic range of the song.
I broke down the instruments, plotted them against one another using time and volume. I tried different ways like the beat vs the vol etc to see how I could make sense of the data and make it as interesting visually as possible.
i decided to plot against something that was more substantial – which was lyrics
Compiled Stats:
Data recorded Second by Second at 1.5x reduced speed, for over
a hundred times to get accurate data.
